Ingredients

  • 7 Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 4 Tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 pie crusts store-bought or homemade

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Peel, core, and slice apples.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour to form a roux. Add water, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Stir until slightly thickened.
  • Place one pie crust in a dish. Fill with apples and pour sauce over them. Cover with the second crust, crimp edges, and cut slits in the top.
  • Bake for 60 minutes or until crust is golden and apples are tender. Cool before serving.
