Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 Cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • to taste cracked black pepper
  • chopped parsley, green onions, honey optional

Instructions

  • In a small dry skillet over medium heat, toast paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne for 20–30 seconds until fragrant; transfer to a bowl.
  • Whisk together mayonnaise and sour cream (or Greek yogurt) until smooth.
  • Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce until fully incorporated.
  • Add warmed spices and whisk until no streaks remain.
  • Mix in hot sauce, lemon juice (or vinegar), salt, and pepper; adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

– For a thinner consistency, replace 2 tablespoons sour cream with buttermilk.
– Substitute vegan mayo and coconut cream for a dairy-free version.
– Sauce will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
– Adjust heat level by varying cayenne and hot sauce amounts.
