Ingredients

  • 12 Red Delicious Apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar adjusted to taste
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Place the peeled, cored, and chopped apples into a large pot.
  • Add sugar, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cover and cook for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft.
  • Once the apples are soft, mash them with a potato masher for a chunky texture or use an immersion blender for a smoother texture.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  • Let the applesauce cool, then transfer to an airtight container for storage.
